Advocacy & Representation

DIAL Solihull provides an advocacy service for people with physical disabilities, so if you have a disability and you can't get your voice heard or you don't know where to start, we can help. Our aim is to help you to solve problems, make changes and play on a level playing field, just like everyone else.

Did you know that there are over 10 million people with a disability in the UK and many others with health or mobility problems?

Yet there are still many organisations which do not to seem to realise this, or to have heard of the Disability Discrimination Act. If you have felt discriminated against, excluded or a nuisance because of your disability, DIAL can help you try to do something about this.

What is Advocacy?

DIAL Solihull can provide disabled people with an independent advocate to:

  • Make informed choices

  • Protect their rights

  • Have a voice which is both listened to and heard

Your advocate will:

  • Publicly suggest, recommend or support a particular course of action, cause or policy, to bring about positive change for you, the client.

  • Put the case on your behalf in a variety of situations, including:

    • Financial issues

    • Benefits

    • Housing

    • Employment

    • Discrimination

    • Social exclusion

    • Educational issues

    • Unfair treatment

  • Help people become, or remain, in control of their own lives
